Last year I made a resolution to read 12 books in 12 months. As an educated adult, I felt like I had been wasting my own literacy. I loved reading as a kid but as I grew up and encountered more required reading in school, I lost the drive to complete books just for fun. So I challenged myself last year to get back in the habit of reading. With great pride and effort I completed this task with hours to spare on NYE. So here are the books I read in 2012 and the order in which I enjoyed them:
12. Mockingjay – Suzanne Collins
11. Catching Fire – Suzanne Collins
10. A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to the Future – Michael J. Fox
9. I Am Legend – Richard Mattheson
8. A Confederacy of Dunces – John Kennedy Toole
7. A Game of Thrones: A Song of Fire and Ice – George R.R. Martin
6. The Girl Who Kicked The Hornets Nest – Stieg Larsson
5. The Hunger Games – Suzanne Collins
4. Slaughterhouse-Five – Kurt Vonnegut
3. Steve Jobs – Walter Isaacson
2. The Great Gatsby – F. Scott Fitzgerald
1. American Gods – Neil Gaiman
For 2013 I am shooting for 20 books. So far I’m about halfway through JK Rowlings first post-Potter novel The Casual Vacancy.
