This is one of the strangest projects I’ve ever encountered but it sure is neat.
IBM created an algorithm that translated tennis data from the US Open into sound. Using metrics like serve velocity, aces, etc IBM was able to make over 400 hours of bleeps and bloops with help from James Murphy who then remixed the sounds into an album titled Remixes Made With Tennis Data. You can stream the album free on SoundCloud. Like anything James Murphy touches its quite weird and distinctively brilliant.
