5 Tracks ‘Til Friday – July 6, 2015

Welcome to Five Tracks ‘Til Friday. Every Monday I’ll post 5 tracks to help you get through the work week. They could be fresh releases, dusty old bangers, or new discoveries but I promise you they will be jams. Sweet sweet genre-bending, anachronistic jams.

1. FOALS – “What Went Down”

Fresh single from FOALS’ forthcoming fourth album also titled What Went Down. This new album follows their fantastic 2013 album Holy Fire

2. D.R.A.M. – “Cha Cha”

This song has been my favorite discovery from the first week of Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio station. Thought it was silly the first time I heard it. Now it’s stuck in my head so I’m not even trying to fight it. Jam of the Summer? You decide.

3. Disclosure feat. Eliza Doolittle – “You & Me” (Flume Remix)

This remix came out in 2013 but both Flume and Disclosure have been on my mind lately so this has been getting a lot of repeat play in my world. One of the rare instances where the remix is unquestionably better than the original.

4. Luther Vandross – “Never Too Much”

Bonobo and Chet Faker did a surprise DJ set to shut down the Do-Lab at Coachella Weekend 2 this year. This classic was the last song of Coachella 2015 and it was magic. Perfect ending to a great weekend.

5. Future Islands – “A Song for Our Grandfathers”

I’ve written a lot about how much I love this band. This is a fresh music video for one of the most emotive songs on their latest album Singles. Filmed at a band members family reunion, Future Islands plays an intimate set for friends and family and it gives me the chills.

Check back next week for another installment of 5 Tracks ‘Til Friday!
