5 Tracks ‘Til Friday – July 13, 2015

Peak summer is here. Get down.

1. Sneaky Sound System – “Big”

I heard this song a few years back on a now defunct radio station at about 1 AM during a lonely drive home. I don’t remember the station or the DJ but Sneaky Sound System’s gorgeous disco banger “Big” more than lives up to its name.

2. Breakbot – “Fantasy” [NSFW]

You just became a fan of Breakbot. I can feel it all the way over on the other side of the Internet. Breakbot’s funk is irresistible.

3. Chicago – “Saturday In The Park”

You can thank Chicago for the dusty old favorite of the week. The weekend is only a few days away. Can you dig it? Yes I can.

4. Donnie Trumpet & the Social Experiment – “Slip Slide”

Featuring Chance the Rapper, Busta Rhymes, B.o.B. and BJ the Chicago Kid, “Slip Slide” is a joyous celebration of self reliance. Easily on of the best songs from Donnie Trumpet & the Social Experiment’s excellent new album Surf. Check out the full Compact Discography review here.

5. Jamie xx – “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)”

Hot summer jams don’t get any hotter than “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)”. Produced by the brilliant Jamie xx and featuring Young Thug and Popcaan, this is a leading candidate for the 2015 Song of the Summer. It doesn’t hurt that the song come from the best album of 2015 (so far). Read the full review of Jamie xx’s In Colour right here.
